Sushil Kumar Shinde gives Uddhav a thumping blow
Senior Congress leader Sushil Kumar Shinde is pitted against Uddhav’s candidate in the Maharashtra polls. We support independent candidate Dharamraj Karadi from Solapur South constituency, Sushil Shinde said after casting her vote along with her MP daughter.
Amar Rajnikant Patil is campaigning against the Shiv Sena (UBT) here. Uddhav’s gambit in the polls is being discussed in political circles.
What did Sushil Shinde say?
Sushil Shinde, who cast her vote along with her daughter Parineeti Shinde, said the seat has always been a Congress stronghold. The Shiv Sena (UBT) stubbornly accepted it. We wanted to make former MP Dilip Mane the candidate here but the party did not give him the flag.
Shinde further said that we have decided to support independent Dharamraj Karadi. Only Kaladi will defeat the BJP’s Subhash Deshmukh. Karadi’s political future is bright.
Raut expressed concern
Sanjay Raut had expressed concerns about this even before the polls. Raut had said that Congress MPs were implementing the Sangli model in some seats. In the Lok Sabha elections, Congress leaders supported independent Lok Sabha MP Vishal Patil. Uddhav’s candidate finished third in the election. Patil supported the Congress after the elections.
Congress chief Ramesh Chennithala rejected Raut’s arrest. Chennithala said that the alliance dharma will be followed. Strict action will be taken against those who do not comply with this provision.
In such a situation, all eyes are now on Sushil Kumar Shinde. The country’s former home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde is believed to be close to the Gandhi family.
Solapur South Equation
Solapur South constituency was once a Congress stronghold, but in 2014, the BJP’s Subhash Deshmukh won from here. Deshmukh also entered the House of Representatives in 2019 by winning the seat. In this election, Deshmukh defeated Congress MP Baba Deshmukh by 27,000 votes.
The Congress party is leading in this seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In case of seat sharing, Shiv Sena (UBT) fielded candidate from here but at the last minute, Congress MP Shinde played Uddhav.
In southern Solapur, where Dalits dominate, the Muslim population makes up about 15%.
