UP 9 seat by-elections
Like Maharashtra and Jharkhand, nine assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh will go to polls today (Wednesday). People here are using their right to vote for by-elections. Kundalki seat of Moradabad is also included among the seats where polls are going to be held. There was an uproar at the polls here. The Socialist Party (SP) made numerous accusations against the police authorities. Yet despite the uproar, the highest vote to date took place here. According to the Election Commission, the turnout in Kundalki was 28.54% as of 11 am. Ghaziabad, meanwhile, recorded the lowest turnout. As of 11 o’clock, 12.87% of the votes had been cast here.

Apart from this, the SP also posted on X about Karhal constituency in Mainpuri and blamed the police. Supporters of the Samajwadi Party were beaten up by the police and voters were prevented from casting their votes at booth number 250, ward 17, Kahal Assembly, the party said.
In Kundalki Assembly in Moradabad, voters were intimidated by police and prevented from casting their votes.

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has appealed this to the Supreme Court. “We call on the Supreme Court and the Election Commission to immediately consider the video evidence received and take punitive action and ensure a fair electoral process,” he wrote. He said all police officers checking voter cards and Aadhaar IDs should immediately take action based on the video Suspension. The police have no authority to check the Aadhaar ID card or identity card.
What did the DM say?
The magistrate dismissed SP’s charges. Kundarki DM Anuj Singh said I went and checked it myself. The election is taking place peacefully. No voter faced any problem.
Polling for by-elections for Katehari, Karhal, Meerapur, Ghaziabad, Majhwan, Sisamau, Khair, Phulpur and Kundarki assembly seats has started from 7 am and will continue till 5 pm. Counting will take place on November 23.
