November 20, 2024: The Bollywood industry was shocked when Oscar-winning music maestro AR Rahman confirmed his divorce from Saira Banu, his wife of nearly three decades. Rahman shared an emotional statement on his X account (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, recalling the heartbreak of their separation while asking for privacy during this difficult time.

Rahman wrote in his post:
“We had hoped to make it to the Top Thirty, but everything seems to have an unseen ending. Even the throne of God can tremble with broken hearts. Yet, in this brokenness, we seek meaning despite the fragments They may not be located again. Thank you to our friends for your kindness and respect for our privacy as we navigate this fragile chapter.”
Family asks for privacy
The Rahman family publicly expressed their heartbreak at the decision. Their son Ameen wrote on Instagram Stories: “We ask that everyone respect our privacy during this time. Thank you for your understanding.”
Rahman’s daughter Rahima echoed similar sentiments, sharing a message on Instagram that read: “Please pray for us.”
The 30-year journey ends
Rahman and Saira Banu tied the knot in 1995 with the blessings of their family. Over the years, the couple formed a strong bond and had three children: Khatija, Raheema and Ameen. Despite their personal loss, the family has chosen to remain calm and asked fans to support them through this challenging time.
