Bail can be obtained using documents uploaded online. Court fees must be paid electronically. Procedures have been prepared for filers and lawyers to directly participate in court proceedings. This digital court will hear similar cases in four courts in Kuelon District from the 20th of this month. Given the functioning of this digital court, plans are being drawn up to set up such courts in more districts.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the High Court Auditorium
The online court was launched at the High Court Auditorium on August 17 this year. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also attended the ceremony. Launching the scheme, Justice BR Gavai praised Kerala’s initiative. He said the Supreme Court started online hearings within 48 hours of the country’s lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic. “So this technology will help millions of Indian citizens,” he said.
Technology will help many people
He further said that no one should be denied justice due to lack of access to the Supreme Court. We have all seen that through the use of technology, people from any corner of the country can appear before the Supreme Court. I believe this technology will help many people as well. This will help us realize our dream of social, economic and political justice for all.
