Meloni: PM Modi meets Meloni in Brazil, photo shared on X; issues discussed

Rio de Janeiro: On Monday local time, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. During the meeting, the two leaders discussed strengthening trade, investment and technological cooperation, including strengthening cultural and people-to-people relations.

After the meeting, Prime Minister Modi also posted on the social media platform X. In the post, while sharing pictures from the meeting, he wrote: “It was a pleasure to meet Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro. Our conversation focused on deepening relations in the fields of defence, security, trade and technology We discussed culture “and also discussed promoting cooperation in areas such as education.” Apart from that, he also discussed the friendship between India and Italy.

Meet with leaders of Norway and Portugal

In addition, Prime Minister Modi also held a bilateral meeting with Norwegian Prime Minister Gall Stor during the 19th G20 Leaders’ Summit in Rio de Janeiro. Earlier, Prime Minister Modi met the leaders of Indonesia and Portugal on the sidelines of the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Brazil. During the discussion, Prime Minister Modi emphasized strengthening relations with both countries in areas such as commerce and defence.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said Prime Minister Modi assured Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to expand the India-Indonesia comprehensive strategic partnership. He tweeted, “INDIA – INDONESIA: Celebrating 75 years of warm and friendly relations! Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on the sidelines of the G20 Brazil Summit. Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to Prabowo Subianto President Rabowo expressed his congratulations and congratulated him on his confidence in expanding the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and Indonesia.”
