RCB play ahead of auction, make IPL champion legend’s surprise entry

The RCB team has been participating in the IPL since 2008 and has players such as Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle and Mohammed Siraj in the team. But the team never won a championship. RCB reached the finals thrice but failed every time. Now to win the IPL 2025 title, RCB has adopted the best strategy and appointed Omkar Salvi as bowling coach.

Won 3 major championships in the past 8 months

Omkar Salvi was earlier working as an assistant coach at Kolkata Knight Riders and won the IPL 2024 title with KKR. In the last 8 months, he has won Ranji Trophy, Irani Trophy and IPL title. Omkar is currently the coach of Mumbai Cricket Team and his tenure will end in March 2025. Thereafter he will join RCB.

Karthik appointed batting coach

Earlier, RCB had appointed wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik as its batting coach and mentor for the IPL 2025 season. Omkar Salvi and Karthik have worked together before. He keeps a low profile and gives players a chance to let go. Omkar, 46, has coaching experience. Now, under his coaching, it remains to be seen whether things will change for the RCB team. He played only one first-class match in his career, in which he took just one wicket.

RCB retains 3 players

RCB has retained three players in IPL 2025 reservations. These include Virat Kohli (Rs 21 crore), Rajat Patidar (Rs 11 crore) and uncapped Yash Dayal (Rs 5 crore). RCB can use three RTMs for the IPL mega auction. He still has 830 million rupees left in his wallet.

Virat is the backbone of the RCB team and has single-handedly won many games for the team. He is the highest run-scorer in the IPL. He scored 8004 runs in IPL. Rajat Patidar and Yash Dayal also performed well for RCB.
