Police encounters with Naxalites
Five Naxalites were killed in police-Naxalite clashes in Kanker in Chhattisgarh on Sunday. Police have released photos of the slain Naxalite, but they have not yet been identified. The bodies of Kanker Naxalites are being brought from Pakhanjul. Among the dead Naxalites were two women and three men. The police have recovered a large number of weapons, including an INSAS, an SLR, and a 12-caliber BGL rifle.
A police statement said the encounter took place in North Abu Jimad, Narayanpur district or Kanker.So far, the search efforts have found the bodies of five uniformed Naxalites, including two female Maoists.
A joint police force of DRG, STF and BSF clashed with the Maoists, the police said in a statement. The bodies of five uniformed Naxalites, including two female Maoists, have been recovered so far during the search. The identification process is still ongoing.
