Manipur has been witnessing ongoing unrest over the past few months. Violent terrorist incidents by militants continue to occur in different regions. The Union Home Ministry said on Saturday that all security forces deployed in Manipur have been directed to take necessary steps to restore peace in the state. The security situation has remained “fragile” over the past few days.
Militants attack police station
Another round of violence broke out in Manipur on Monday when 11 suspected militants used advanced weapons to attack a police station and a nearby CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) camp in Manipur’s Jiribam district. However, they were killed in the battle. A day later, militants abducted six civilians, including women and children, from the same area.
The situation remains delicate
The Home Ministry said in a statement on Saturday, “The security situation in Manipur has remained fragile over the past few days. During the clashes, armed goons from both communities condoned violence, resulting in casualties and public disorder.
Investigation handed over to NIA
“Strict action will be taken against anyone who attempts to engage in violent and disruptive activities,” the statement said. Important cases have been handed over to the NIA for effective investigation.
Instruct security forces to take necessary measures
Meanwhile, security forces are said to have been instructed to take necessary steps to restore peace. The Ministry of Home Affairs has asked the people to maintain peace, disbelieve rumours, and cooperate with the security forces to maintain law and order in the state.
