Fundamentalism has taken hold in Bangladesh after the overthrow of Sheikh Hasina’s government. Call for these elements to be removed from the constitution
Bangladesh Attorney General Mohammad Aszamman made several arguments during the court petition hearing. The attorney general sought to delete two of the four principles of Bangladesh’s constitution, namely secularism and socialism. At the same time, demands were also made to abolish the status of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the Father of the Nation. In addition to this, provision was also made for changes in the death penalty through extra-constitutional means to change the government.
