Shahid Afridi: The Champions Trophy 2025 will be hosted in Pakistan and the Pakistan team is making every effort to host the tournament here. But the BCCI refused to send the Indian team to Pakistan. India could use a hybrid model for the Champions Trophy race. This has created a great crisis for the championship trophy. Since the Pakistan team is not ready for the hybrid format, it is almost impossible for the Champions Trophy to be held without the Indian team.
Afridi’s change of attitude
Former Pakistan player Shahid Afridi has always been known for his colorful statements. He has repeatedly made ridiculous remarks on Kashmir and India. But now he seems to have relaxed his attitude towards the trophy and is talking about the two countries coming together. His attitude changed.
Afridi talks about forgetting differences
Shahid Afridi wrote in a post on social media platform X that cricket is at a turning point and may be facing one of its biggest challenges since the 1970s. It’s time to forget our differences and unite for the sake of sport. If historically divided countries can come together in the Olympic spirit, why can’t we do the same for cricket and the Champions Trophy?
I would like to see every team in Pakistan lift the trophy in 2025. Every team feels our warmth and hospitality. This will create lasting memories off the field. As sports managers, our job is to control our egos and focus on their development.
Scored over 8000 runs in ODIs for Pakistan
Shahid Afridi scored 8064 runs in 398 ODI matches for Pakistan, in which he hit 6 centuries. Apart from this, he also performed miracles in bowling and managed to take 395 wickets. In 99 T20 internationals, he scored 1416 runs and 98 wickets. He also played 27 Test matches for Pakistan. His role was always that of a batsman and when he came off the field, he was known for his explosive batting.
