According to a Bloomberg report on Wednesday, November 13, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang revealed on the same stage with CEO Masayoshi Son that Japanese investment group SoftBank was once the largest shareholder of the technology giant.

“A lot of people may not know this, but Masa used to be Nvidia’s largest shareholder,” Huang said at an event in Tokyo on November 13.

Huang reviewed the company’s history with Son and the chief’s importance to the Asian country. “It’s okay, we can cry together,” Huang said, hugging Son on stage at an event in Tokyo.

Son and Jen-Hsun Huang now reportedly plan to join forces to help SoftBank become the first supercomputer to build chips using Nvidia’s new Blackwell design, as the company focuses on its artificial intelligence ambitions.

SoftBank’s telecom unit plans to build Japan’s most powerful artificial intelligence supercomputer to support a wide range of local services, according to the company.

Huang highlighted Son’s achievements, such as bringing innovators such as Microsoft’s Bill Gates and Yahoo’s Jerry Yang to Japan. The SoftBank CEO is also responsible for introducing Steve Jobs and Apple’s iPhone to China, making China’s cloud industry possible.

“It was Masayoshi Son who brought Bill Gates to Japan, and it was Masayoshi Son who brought Jerry Yang to Japan. It was Masayoshi Son who made China’s cloud industry—Alibaba—possible. It was Masayoshi Son who brought Steve Jobs to Brought to Japan and brought the iPhone, many of you may not know this, but Son was once the largest shareholder of Nvidia,” said the Nvidia leader.

Huang also asked the SoftBank CEO how he selects the innovators and creators of every technological revolution in computing history and his ability to maintain a 100% track record.

“Well, I guess I’m just lucky. I was born at the right time and met great entrepreneurs,” Son said in response to Huang’s question.
