Supreme Court bans bulldozer operation
The Supreme Court has banned the bulldozer operation. The court said administrative officials cannot become judges. The accused cannot be declared guilty and his house demolished. The court said it was completely unconstitutional to demolish people’s homes just because they were charged or guilty. But the big question is how bulldozers will clear illegal structures, for which the Supreme Court has issued guidelines.
The court stated…
- Please give 15 days notice before demolishing your home.
- Notices must be sent by registered mail
- The notice must explain why the property is illegal.
- Post notices at home
- Notification information should be provided to DM
