Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is taking steps to strengthen security in the space domain. The Defense Space Agency has organized “Space Exercise 2024” in this direction. Officers from the three services, ISRO, DRDO and other major defense agencies participated in the exercise. This is part of preparations to deal with increasing threats and competition in space. The exercise started on Monday and will last until Wednesday.
The Indian Ministry of Defense said in a statement that this exercise is an important step in protecting India’s strategic interests in space and utilizing space capabilities for military operations. The purpose of this exercise is to respond to potential threats to space-based technology and resources during war and enable India to further enhance its space power in the future. This initiative by the Ministry of Defense will enhance India’s strategic capabilities and establish coordination of military operations.
National Space Defense Preparedness
Through the “2024 Space Exercise”, India has taken steps to strengthen its space defense preparedness. Under this, the Air Force has already put some satellites into space and will launch two more satellites soon. These satellites will be used for tasks such as communications, weather forecasting, navigation and real-time monitoring. ISRO and DRDO play an important role in the launch of these satellites.
use military satellites
India has many important military satellites, including the GSAT series, Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System, Cartosat series, and Resourcesat series. These satellites are used for communications, navigation, observation and other strategic purposes. Furthermore, communication satellites like NEMESIS help in secure communications of the Indian Army.
Current Space Force needs
Global powers such as China and the United States are already strengthening their space capabilities amid growing competition in space. China has stepped up its research and development of equipment such as helicopter missiles, laser weapons, and space jammers. The United States created the “Space Force” in 2019.
Under this circumstance, it is very necessary for India to advance its space force preparations. This exercise by India is not only of great significance to maintaining its space strategic presence, but also of great significance to national security.
