The merger of Reliance Jio and Star India is in the final stages. After this merger, there is a possibility of JioCinema and Disney + Hotstar OTT platforms becoming one. However, the company has not officially disclosed relevant information yet. During this period, many domain names related to Jio and Hotstar were exposed. One user demanded higher education in exchange for granting Jio Hotstar domain name to Reliance.
JioStar website launched
Amid these speculations, Jio has played another big trick. According to reports, the company has launched a new domain called Jiostar.com. As soon as you open this website, you can see “Jio Star Coming Soon”. It is speculated that the streaming service will be launched on the domain from November 14. Many reports claim that both the leading OTT platforms will be accessible through the website.
According to recent reports, Reliance Jio will live stream all sports events like IPL, ISL, Pro Kabaddi and more through Disney + Hotstar app. At the same time, all online series, TV series, movies, etc. will be streamed through JioCinema. Disney+ Hotstar has better infrastructure for live streaming of sports events, the report said. With this in mind, the company wants to use the platform only for sporting events.
Shocked domain name seller
Disney+ Hotstar has been streaming cricket matches for years now. Disney Plus Hotstar still has the streaming rights for all ICC events. There were recent reports that the two OTT platforms will be merged under the name JioHostar. In view of the merger, a Delhi-based app developer purchased the domain and put it up for auction. He plans to use the money from the auction to further his education.
The domain has since been purchased by two Dubai residents who claimed to have given it to the company for free. Recently, there has been a lot of speculation on social media regarding Jio and Hotstar domain names. After launching a new website called JioStar, it seems that Jio will offer its streaming services through this domain. Recently, OpenAI, the company that developed ChatGPT, spent over Rs 120 crore to purchase the Chat.com domain name.
