The Delhi High Court on Monday, November 11, held a hearing on the hunger strike of Yasin Malik, who is serving a life sentence in a terror financing case, and his petition seeking admission to AIIMS. During this period, the court directed the prison authorities to ensure that Yasin Malik receives necessary treatment as per prison regulations. Tihar jail officials, while providing information to the Delhi High Court, said Yasin Malik had ended his hunger strike on November 8. In the meantime, Malik is receiving all necessary medical care.
Meanwhile, during the hearing, other officials, including from the central government, opposed the petition seeking admission of Yasin Malik to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, citing his alleged deteriorating health condition. He asked for more time to review the medical status report provided by prison authorities before issuing a reply. The court has directed the prison authorities to ensure that Yasin Malik receives appropriate medical care.
The next hearing will be held on November 18
After considering arguments from both sides, Justice Jasmeet Singh fixed the next hearing in the case for November 18. Yasin Malik’s barrister expressed concern over the rescheduling of the hearing, saying the legal team planned to meet Malik at Tihar jail to corroborate the prison authorities’ claims.

In fact, Yasin Malik in his petition sought a direction from the court to shift him to AIIMS or any other super specialty hospital in New Delhi or Kashmir for proper treatment. Officials confirmed that Malik is receiving adequate medical assistance. The Delhi High Court on Friday had issued notices to the Centre, the Tihar jail superintendent and other officials concerned in response to Yasin Malik’s petition.
Yasin Malik claims that he has been on a hunger strike since November 1 because he was denied the necessary treatment. In the petition, Malik sought appropriate court directions to ensure that he gets proper medical care at AIIMS or any other super specialty hospital in New Delhi or Kashmir. Apart from this, Malik also asked the court to direct officials to ensure his presence in Delhi courts when required.

Based on the charges and arguments of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the court convicted and sentenced Yasin Malik. A court sentenced Malik to life in prison in 2022 for his role in the 2017 terrorist financing case.
