The dispute between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (i.e. BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over the 2025 Champions Trophy is yet to be resolved. It is now around 100 days before the tournament takes place but the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is not ready to agree to the hybrid model yet. Meanwhile, PCB has made a big announcement regarding the tournament. In fact, the PCB has received an email from the ICC stating that the Indian team will not travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy match. The email came after the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman issued a statement in which he said Pakistan would disclose its policy only after receiving a written communication from the International Cricket Federation. Now, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is in a state of tension after receiving a written reply from the International Cricket Council (ICC) from India.
PCB goes head-to-head with BCCI
The PCB said in a statement that the board has received an email from the ICC stating that the BCCI has informed them that their team will not travel to Pakistan for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. A PCB spokesman said the PCB had sent the email to the Pakistani government for advice and guidance. The PCB made no further comment on the ICC email, but it is clear that the Indian team is not prepared to travel to Pakistan under any circumstances.
Hybrid models are not PCB approved
Previously, Chairman Naqvi had stated that Pakistan could not accept the “hybrid model”. Now that the BCCI’s response has come out, the crisis over hosting the Champions League has deepened further. The Indian cricket team has adopted a hybrid model after refusing to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup. All of India’s matches will be played in Sri Lanka. However, this time PCB did not approve of this mode. Let us tell you that the Indian team has not visited Pakistan since 2008. Meanwhile, the Pakistan team has also come to India for the 2012-13 white-ball series, the 2016 T20 World Cup and last year’s 50-over World Cup.
