Balochistan: Information is emerging about a massive bomb blast in Pakistan’s troubled Balochistan province. At least 20 people died in the incident. At the same time, more than 30 people were injured. The bomb explosion occurred near the Quetta railway station in Balochistan. Preliminary reports indicate that the explosion occurred at the railway station ticket office before the train arrived at the platform. The crowd inside the station was in normal condition when the explosion occurred. Still, there is a risk of more casualties.
After receiving information about the explosion, police and rescue workers rushed to the scene of the explosion. Quetta City Civil Hospital entered a state of emergency and called in more doctors and paramedics to treat the injured. According to railway officials, the Jaffar Express was scheduled to leave for Peshawar at 9 am. Officials said the train had not yet reached the platform when the explosion occurred. The death toll from the explosion is likely to rise as many of the injured are in critical condition.
The acting president condemned the incident
Acting President Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani condemned the fatal incident, saying terrorists were enemies of humanity targeting innocent people. Gilani reiterated his determination to take all possible measures to completely destroy terrorism. Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti has directed the relevant authorities to investigate the fatal incident. The Chief Minister reiterated his determination to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the province.
