CM Sukhu, CID and Samosa…Why did the war break out in Himachal Pradesh?

In Himachal Pradesh, the samosas brought for CM Sukhu’s breakfast disappeared before they could reach him.

The CID probe into the samosas remains a topic of discussion in political circles in Himachal Pradesh. The controversy began on October 21 when three boxes of samosas and cakes were brought from the Radisson Hotel to the chief minister who was attending an event at the Crime Investigation Department (CID) headquarters. But the goods could not reach the chief minister. The CID department launched an internal investigation into the entire incident and the oversight was termed as an anti-government act.

According to an investigation report by a deputy superintendent of police officer, the food items were given to the chief minister’s security personnel due to lack of coordination. Reports said an inspector general-level official asked a special police officer to bring some food from the hotel for the chief minister’s visit. The SI further directed the Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and Superintendent of Police to carry food items.

Samosas to be served to chief minister for breakfast

The ASI and the Superintendent of Police brought three refreshments in sealed boxes from the hotel and informed the SI. Police officials said in a statement that when they asked the staff on duty at the tourism office whether the breakfast items in the three compartments were to be served to the chief minister, they said they were not included in the menu.

The investigation report stated that only the SI who was responsible for delivering breakfast from the hotel to the ASI and the Superintendent of Police knew that the three boxes were for the lady inspector assigned to CM Sukhu. Without consulting any senior official, the refreshments were sent to the Mechanical Transport (MT) department, which handles refreshment-related work. During this process, three boxes of refreshments were exchanged in the hands of many people. These items were not given to CM, but to some other security personnel.

Anti-government behavior mentioned in the report

Interestingly, a senior official of the CID department wrote in his comments that all the persons named in the investigation report were guilty of acts against the CID and the government and hence the matter could not be communicated to important persons. Comments said he did not work according to his own agenda.

What does the CM’s Chief Media Advisor say?

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu’s chief media adviser Naresh Chauhan has reacted to the samosas controversy. He said this was completely wrong. No such investigation has been conducted. We don’t understand what kind of news is happening and what is the thinking behind it all. There are those who conspire to defame this government. The government has neither initiated nor conducted any such investigation.

Naresh Chauhan said that this could be an internal matter of the CID department as in the past it was the function of the chief minister of his police department, especially the CID personnel. Went as the chief guest and the chief minister is known to avoid eating and drinking outside. If he has health issues, it could be an internal issue within the department. The above letters are not related to the government and no such investigation has been conducted. I feel so sad that today we have to react even on a topic like this.

Director of Criminal Investigation Bureau says – the department didn’t even order an investigation

Meanwhile, CID Director Sanjeev Ranjan Ojha said the bureau has not yet issued any order for investigation. But the report was still received in writing. He said it was a matter of concern that the CID’s interim investigation report had gone viral. No notices have been issued to any employees yet, he said. He asked for no political interference in the entire issue.

There’s a lot of politics on this issue right now. Himachal Pradesh BJP MP Randhir Sharma said the Himachal Pradesh government has become a laughing stock due to the incident. This is an issue related to negligence. He said the CID department had time to investigate samosas but no one investigated corruption cases.

Sid Larter

The office of the Himachal Pradesh CID Director has issued a written statement on the samosa controversy. The statement said the investigation into the samosas controversy is an internal matter of the CID department and has nothing to do with the Himachal Pradesh government.
