Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal attended the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Sarpanch of Punjab on Friday. During this period, he also addressed the Sapanche family. In his speech, Kejriwal appealed to the Sarpanch family to work honestly and said the drug problem can be eliminated from the state if the Sarpanch family is willing.
While welcoming the Sarpanch couple, Kejriwal said, I extend my greetings to all Sarpanch brothers and sisters from all corners of Punjab. I would like to express my heartfelt welcome and congratulations to everyone attending this swearing-in ceremony. About 13,000 sapanches were elected, 10,000 of whom took the oath here today. The remaining 3,000 Sarpanches and 81,000 Panches will take the oath after November 23.
It is easy to become an MLA, but it is difficult to become a Sarpanch.
“I was told that Sarpanch and Panch were unanimously elected without opposition in about 3,000 villages,” he said while addressing a meeting in Sarpanch. The progress is doubled during the day and doubled at night. The Aam Aadmi Party has been in existence for 12 years. We also participated in many elections and it was easy to become a provincial councilor but difficult to become a sarpanch. Now you have to do something big. People’s trust must be maintained.
The AAP convener said whatever happens in Punjab land, it is God’s doing. You have the opportunity to serve. The God of heaven has chosen you. You should not break trust between people and God.
work honestly
Kejriwal told the Sarpanches that you should work honestly as it is your duty and doing so will not bring you any benefit. If you are dishonest then the public will also hit you with their shoes and you will have to go to jail. Grants received should be used honestly for the development of the village and decisions should be made with everyone. Be honest about it.
Kejriwal appealed to the Sapansh MPs and said they should try to hold Gram Sabha meetings at least twice a year, but if possible, Gram Sabha meetings should be organized once a month. Do whatever the villagers tell you to do instead of doing it on your own terms.
The government is not short of money.
Kejriwal said you can do good work and do good things for the poor. There’s a lot of waste and paperwork in the city, but you work with the villagers and do what they say, and there’s no wasteful spending. The government did not lack funds but the people lacked determination and they transformed the village to your satisfaction. Don’t even want to be an MLA.
Do not become an adviser to any party
Kejriwal said the sarpanches do not belong to any political party but belong to villages. He said that all of you should not become sarpanches of Aam Aadmi Party, Congress or BJP, you should become sarpanches of villages and do not discriminate against anyone. Sarpanch said if you are determined then Punjab can be rid of drug addiction. The government can’t do anything without your help. You will know who is selling drugs, catch them and hand them over to the police and if they don’t take action then we will take action against them.
