Telangana begins caste census
Telangana state begins caste census today i.e. Wednesday. Earlier, the All India Congress Telangana had issued a special appeal to the Muslim community. The committee said people from the Muslim community should ensure participation in the caste census and provide appropriate information. Mufti Omar Abidin Qasmi Madani, secretary-general of the committee, called on Muslims to say which sub-category of BC they belong to. Because a large number of Muslims belong to BC-E (socially and educationally backward classes) category. A small number of Muslims are classified in other British Columbia categories based on their occupation.
He said the future of Muslim representation in local bodies depends on the information provided by members of our community. The committee asked Muslims to have all documents ready including proof of identity. Caste has always been a big topic in Telangana.
75 questions will be asked
More than 50,000 employees will take part in the three-week caste census. The government will set up primary schools and hire thousands of teachers to do the counting. During these three weeks, staff will collect comprehensive social, economic, educational, employment, political and caste-related information.
There is also one supervisor for every 150 households. There are specialized investigative toolkits. There are 75 questions in total, including 56 main questions and 19 supplementary questions. This information has filled eight pages under Parts 1 and 2. In Part-1, personal information of the owner and family members must be provided. Part 1 has 60 questions in total. The second part is about real estate, loans and housing.
In this survey, in addition to the main question, 19 sub-questions need to be answered. No certificate will be obtained. Everyone in the family does not need to be present. If the home owner is available and provides details, that will be enough. First, the enumerator enters detailed information about the district, county, village, city, area code, and house number. Details like caste, owner, family members, education, occupation, marital status, annual income, loan within five years, house size, amenities, land details, etc. are collected as part of a comprehensive door-to-door household poll. .
What promises has Congress made?
Congress promised to give BC 42% reservation in local bodies. It also announced in its manifesto that it would conduct a caste census. After the Ravens government came to power, it not only passed a resolution in Parliament, but also ordered the allocation of 1.5 billion rupees for the caste census.
