The body of a 35-year-old government employee working as second assistant in the Tehsildar’s office was found on Tuesday, creating a stir in Karnataka’s Belagavi city. According to preliminary investigation, the police suspected that he committed suicide. The deceased has been identified as Rudraanna Yadavannavar. The incident came to light on Tuesday morning when sanitation workers arrived at the office. According to police, Rudrana wrote on social media and in a WhatsApp group of Tehsildar office employees: “He will commit suicide on November 4, 2024 at around 7.30 pm. He has held three persons responsible for his death , which included Tehsildar Basavaraj Nagral, office staff Ashok Kabaligar and Somu.

Somu is reported to be the personal assistant to Minister for Women and Child Development and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and Senior Citizens Lakshmi Hebbalkar. Since Rudlana’s wife also worked in the same office, he tried to block the transfer. According to sources, Rudrana allegedly paid a bribe of Rs 2 lakh to the Tehsildar to prevent his transfer. While Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar’s PA Somu received Rs 50,000. Even after paying the bribe, he was transferred, for which he was distraught and hanged himself in the office.
