Sheena Gavitt
The battle for the assembly elections in Maharashtra has begun. Monday is the last day to withdraw nominations. Many of the rebels of Mahayutti and Maha Vikas Aghadi withdrew their nominations, much to the party’s relief, while many are still in the running. With the insurgents still on the battlefield, the headaches for Mahayoti and Mahavika Aghadi are likely to intensify. The name of BJP leader and former MP Sheena Gavit was also included.
It is reported that Hina Gavit has retained her candidacy for the Akalkuva parliamentary seat. While retaining his candidacy, he also resigned from the BJP. He took a rebellious stance against the BJP and filed his nomination as an independent candidate. He did not withdraw his nomination on Monday, the last day to withdraw it. In this case, it becomes difficult for Mahayuthy’s candidacy in the Akakuwa seat.
Minister Fr Vijay Kumar is contesting from Nandurbar seat.
Sheena Gavitt also resigned from several positions in the party, including as a leading member of the party. On resigning, he said the decision was taken to avoid the party’s image being tarnished by the rebellion. Hina Gavit is the daughter of state tribal development minister Vijaykumar Gavit. Vijaykumar Gavit is the BJP candidate from Nandurbar assembly constituency.
On the other hand, Hina Gavit from Akakuwa constituency rebelled against Mahayuti. Gavit’s rebellion exacerbated Mahayuthi’s problems. He said I resigned so that the party would not encounter problems due to his candidacy. Hina Gavit is also the national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Shiv Sena faction accused of opposing BJP
Gavit also said that the Shiv Sena Shinde faction has been fighting against the BJP and hence we decided to fight against them. The district is likely to see a high-pressure race because of Gavitt’s candidacy.
Hina Gavit had contested from Nandurbar seat in Maharashtra in the 2014 general elections and won. After that, in 2019, the party gave her another chance, and she realized it. However, Hina Gavit suffered defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
This seat already belongs to Eknath Shinde Group’s share
After this election failure, Sheena Gavitt tried hard to run for parliamentary elections, but did not get a chance. In Mahayuthi’s seat-sharing formula, this seat belongs to Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena. The Shiv Sena has awarded this seat to Amshya Fujali Padvi, while the Congress, representing Mahavikas Aghadi, has fielded C Padvi, who is also an advocate.
