When Shah Rukh Khan serenaded Ghauri at Connaught Place: Shoojit Sircar

November 4, 2024: Renowned filmmaker Shoojit Sircar recently shared nostalgic memories of a young Shah Rukh Khan when both were part of Delhi’s Barry John troupe member. In a candid interview on ‘Unfiltered With Samdish’, Sircar revealed how he witnessed SRK’s early romance with now wife Gauri.

Recalling the early days, Shujith said: “I have known Shah Rukh since the days of Barry John. Although I didn’t play with him, I was there and witnessed the rise of a future star. .” SRK eventually left the group to star in the hit TV series “Fauji,” marking his first step into the entertainment industry.

Sirkar fondly recounts how SRK and Gauri met at a quaint place in Connaught Place. “There was a place called De Paul’s Cafe in Connaught Place, where Shah Rukh and Gowrie used to go for coffee,” he shared. When interviewer Samdish asked him if he had ever seen SRK on a romantic occasion, Sircar smiled and replied, “Yes, I saw him romancing her, but not on stage.”

On the work front, Shoojit Sircar’s upcoming film I Want To Talk, starring Abhishek Bachchan, will hit theaters on November 22 . The recently released trailer has generated considerable buzz, making it one of the most anticipated movies of the year.
