From Azam to Digvijay…their politics silenced by controversial remarks about women

Big words about women silence these veterans politically

From Jharkhand to Maharashtra, leaders’ controversial remarks about women have hit the headlines. Uddhav MP Arvind Sawant is in serious trouble for allegedly making controversial remarks against Shinde candidates from Mumbai V, Maharashtra and NC Shena. Mahayuthi has opened a front against Sawant.

Like Sawant, Jamtara MLA Irfan Ansari, who has also made controversial remarks about women, is also at a disadvantage. Irrfan had allegedly said that Sita Soren rejected the material.

In Indian politics, male leaders making controversial remarks about women is nothing new. Beyond that, however, there is the interesting statistic that leaders who make controversial statements about women are stuck in the middle politically.

Digvijay remains silent on MP politics

Digvijay Singh, who came to Mandsaur to contest the 2013 elections, called Congress candidate Meenakshi Natarajan 100% rubbish. In fact, at the rally, Digvijay said I am an old jeweler but Meenakshi is 100% a goldsmith.

Congress is in trouble due to this statement of Digvijay. The party suffered a crushing defeat in the 2014 elections. Digvijay Singh was the largest leader of the Congress party in Madhya Pradesh at the time, but the party began to isolate him thereafter.

Digvijay also contested in the 2019 and 2024 elections but failed to emerge victorious. Digvijay Singh now pursues politics only through the Rajya Sabha. A statement by Digvijay went viral during the 2018 elections.

Diji Raja had said then that Congress votes were being cut because of my speech.

Sharad again did not arrive in parliament where he made the statement.

In 2015, Sharad Yadav made controversial remarks about women in Parliament and said, “Even though southern women are beautiful, we don’t take them that seriously.” Southern women also know how to dance. I admire the beauty of those women.

When Sharad’s comments caused an uproar, he immediately apologized. However, in 2017 he once again made controversial remarks. This time he made controversial remarks against the then Chief Minister of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje.

After 2017, Sharad Yadav’s political career began to decline. JDU first canceled his membership and then developed a strategy to isolate him. In 2019, Sharad Yadav also contested the elections from Madhepura but failed to win.

Until the end, he was unable to go to Parliament, where Sharad Yadav was making controversial remarks about women.

Agarwal locked out of Jaya after controversial speech

Naresh Aggarwal was once considered an important leader of the Samajwadi Party. In SP, the politics of Hardoi and Mislik revolved around Agarwal. Naresh is believed to be close to Mulayam Singh Yadav. After the Akhilesh government was formed, Mulayam sent Naresh to the House of Federation.

Naresh was in the news at the Federal House for his remarks. Similarly, in May 2018, the SP named Jai Bachchan as its candidate after canceling Naresh’s ticket. Naresh gets angry at this and calls Jaya a dancer.

Naresh’s remarks created a stir. The SP also distanced itself from the statement. Naresh became isolated thereafter. After spending a few months with the SP, Naresh joined the BJP. He wanted a political boost here, but the BJP didn’t give him any interest either.

Naresh now hopes his political star will shine in Hardoi itself.

Comments on Jayaprada make Azam flinch

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Jayaprada of the Bharatiya Janata Party faced off against Azam Khan, the number two of the Samajwadi Party. Azam made very controversial remarks against Jaya during the election. The Election Commission also banned Azam over these remarks. However, this did not have any impact on Azam’s victory.

After winning in 2019, Azam once again made controversial remarks. This time Azam said there was no place for Nachaniyas in Rampur. There are no bars or dance clubs here. The BJP took full advantage of this narrative.

A case has also been registered against Azam for his remarks. The Uttar Pradesh police gradually began tightening their grip on Azam. Many of his old files were open at the same time. Azam was arrested by the police and jailed.

Along with Azzam, his family members were also imprisoned. Azam was found guilty and punished in the fake certificate case. As a result, his membership was also cancelled. When Azam’s membership was cancelled, Jayaprada’s statement came out and she said that the entire Azam family was punished for speaking ill of women.
