After a long wait, Royal Enfield has finally launched its new motorcycle Bear 650. Official images of the bike have been revealed for the first time and will soon be revealed to the world at the EICMA show in Milan, Italy. It is understood that the company may also announce the price of this new car at the auto show on November 5. So let’s take a look at Royal Enfield’s new Bear 650 motorcycle——
Royal Enfield Bear 650: Appearance and Design
In the 650 cc segment, this is the fifth motorcycle in the segment to be based on a dual platform, like the company’s other motorcycles Interceptor, Continental and Super Meteor. Basically, it’s a Scrambler model of the Interceptor with a host of new features and advanced mechanical components. Beyond its name, its looks and design are impressive.
The bike weighs 214kg and has a crawler seat, LED headlights and taillights, LED indicators, race car-like number plates on the side panels and an excellent ground clearance of 184mm. The bike is nearly 2kg lighter than the Interceptor. With better ground clearance, the bike’s off-road capabilities also increase.
Instead of a dual-pod instrument console, the bike features a Guerrilla and Himalayan-style circular TFT display. The display supports Google Maps and is controlled by new switchgear. The Royal Enfield Bear 650 will be available in five different colors.
Power and performance:
Like other models, the Bear 650 also uses a 648 cc parallel twin-cylinder engine, but there are significant changes. Instead of dual exhaust pipes, the bike now has a two-into-one system with a single exhaust pipe on the right side. The engine has a power of 47 horsepower and a torque of 56.5 Nm. It is understood that the torque of the bike has changed significantly due to changes in the exhaust system.
hardware:
The new Royal Enfield Bear 650 rides on the same chassis as the Interceptor 650, but the suspension and wheel sizes are different. The front and rear wheel settings are changed from 18 inches/18 inches to 19 inches/17 inches, which is more in line with the style of Scrambler motorcycles. The suspension has also been upgraded, with the Bear getting shotgun-like Showa upside-down (UDS) forks up front, while the rear gets new dual-shock suspension.
The company has also increased the suspension travel on this bike. The caliber of the interceptor missiles was increased from 110 mm/88 mm to 130 mm/115 mm. Due to the increased suspension travel, the seat height has also been increased to 830 mm. Here, the company used MRF’s new Nylorex block tires, although they don’t offer a tubeless option.
Brakes and Ergonomics:
Like the Interceptor, it comes with a 320mm disc setup at the front but a 270mm disc brake at the rear. The bike comes with dual-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS). The ergonomics of the bike have also undergone significant changes. There are new wider handlebars and different footpeg positions.
