Kamala Harris’ running mate and Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz had an affair with the daughter of a senior Chinese Communist Party official in 1989 while teaching in China. According to the “Daily Mail” report, 59-year-old Jenna Wang said that her relationship with Waltz broke her down and led to her suicide. The disclosure comes just days before the November 5 US presidential election, in which Harris will face Republican Donald Trump. Walz, meanwhile, has been criticized for falsely claiming he was in Hong Kong during the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre.
Waltz worked as a high school English teacher in Foshan, Guangdong Province, China, before moving to the United States and entering politics. He is now the governor of Minnesota. Wang told the Daily Mail that she first spoke to Walz when she attended one of his lectures to improve her pronunciation. She claims Walz took off his headphones and whispered in her ear, “You’re so beautiful.” The two soon began seeing each other outside.
“Treated like a whore”
Wang claims their relationship began in secret because her father would never approve of her relationship with a Westerner. The passionate relationship at the time inspired the 24-year-old Wang to dream of getting married and starting a new life in the United States. Wang said: “Tim Waltz is very emotional and very romantic.
However, she claims Walz never proposed. Wang claims they soon began arguing about whether she really loved Waltz or was just trying to get a U.S. visa.
She said the behavior hurt her and drove her to suicide. As a result of this unhappy romance, Wang fled China for Italy.
Wang said knowing he would not marry me made me feel like I was being treated like a prostitute. I felt so humiliated and hurt that I had to leave the place because a lot of people knew we were having an affair. Waltz returned to the United States and married Gwen Whipple in 1993. They have two children.
Although Walz is now the Democratic vice presidential candidate, Wang said he “does not have the character and integrity to do one of the most important jobs in the world.”
