The Prime Minister of India and the President of Spain jointly inaugurated the Tata Complex – pointing a new direction for India-Spain relations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Vadodara, Gujarat today. Prime Minister Modi along with Spanish President Pedro Sanchez jointly inaugurated the Tata Aircraft Complex at the Tata Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL) campus in Vadodara. Prime Minister Modi said that India and Spain are charting a new direction in their relations.

Remembering Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata, he said he would be happier if Ratan Tata was still alive among us today. We decided on a new path, and the results are in front of everyone. The C 295 factory represents the new India.

“Made for the World”

On this occasion, Prime Minister Modi said that this is the first visit to India by my friend Pedro Sanchez. Starting today, we will chart a new direction for the partnership between India and Spain. We are building a factory to produce C 295 transport aircraft. In addition to strengthening ties between India and Spain, the facility will strengthen the mission of “Make in India, Made for the World”. I wish the entire Tata team all the best.

What is the C-295 program?

A total of 56 aircraft will be built for the C-295 program. Of those, 16 were delivered by Spanish aerospace company Airbus. Thereafter, the remaining 40 aircraft will be manufactured in India. Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. is responsible for manufacturing the 40 aircraft in India.

What did the Spanish president say?

On this occasion, Spanish President Pedro Sanchez said that today we not only pioneered modern industry. Today we will also see how two leading companies will launch an extraordinary project. Praising Prime Minister Modi, the Spanish President said, Prime Minister Modi, this is another victory for your vision for India. Your vision is to make India an industrial powerhouse and increase investment and trade.

He also said that the cooperation between Airbus (Spanish aerospace company) and Tata will contribute to the development of the Indian aerospace industry. This project brings together two of the best companies in the world. Tata is a symbol of India’s industrial prowess. Its products and services are available in nearly every country in the world.

For Airbus, Spain’s leading aerospace company, he said that for Airbus it is a company that provides technological innovation and employment opportunities. Airbus has opened a new chapter in the Indian defense and aerospace industry. The president said the project will strengthen industrial relations between the two countries.

‘I assure Prime Minister Modi’

Prime Minister Modi has laid the foundation stone of the Vadodara Final Assembly Line (FAL) in 2022. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Tata Group Chairman Chandrasekaran said, I assure Prime Minister Modi that within two years from today, we will deliver the first indigenously manufactured aircraft from here.

The Tata Group Chairman also expressed his gratitude to the Spanish President for supporting the project. He revealed that 200 engineers from the Tata Group have been trained in Spain to prepare the aircraft.
