Teachers’ salaries, vacancies, bill payments… Chandrashekhar has written a letter to the UGC on the issue of Delhi University.

Chandrashekhar Azad, Lok Sabha MP from Nagina in Uttar Pradesh, expressed deep concern over the severe financial crisis faced by 12 colleges funded by the Delhi government. In this regard, he addressed Professor, Chairman, University Grants Committee (UGC). A letter has been written to M. Jagdish Kumar seeking resolution of the issue.

The letter asks for solutions to teacher issues

In his letter, Chandrashekhar mentioned serious issues with the faculty members of these colleges such as non-payment of salaries on time, non-payment of medical bills, education allowances, arrears of Seventh Pay Commission, Promotion and Travel Concessions (LTC) etc. He said these financial difficulties not only put teachers and staff into a serious financial crisis, but also had a negative impact on educational activities.

Chandrashekhar Azad also said that around 300 temporary teachers have been waiting for formal appointments for years and many of them have been working on a temporary basis for 15 years. In addition to this, many vacancies are vacant in colleges and universities, and teachers and students are also facing the problem of poor infrastructure. In order to improve the quality of education, he demanded immediate approval of new teaching posts in Delhi University to reduce the workload of existing teachers and provide better education to students.

The letter was also sent to Delhi Chief Minister Atish

The MPs urged the UGC Chairman to find an immediate solution to the financial problems of these colleges and take immediate steps to sanction necessary teaching posts. The letter has also been sent to Chief Minister Atish in the Delhi government so that the Delhi government can take necessary steps in this direction at the earliest.
