The Congress and the BJP have attacked each other over the issue.

When Sita Soren started crying, BJP MP Navada Vivek Thakur, who was with her, tried to handle the situation. Criticizing the Congress leader’s remarks, Thakur said the BJP would not only oppose it in Jamtala but also across the state.
Sita Soren was the wife of Durga Soren, the eldest son of Shibu Soren, chief of the Mukti Morcha of Jharkhand. Meanwhile, Hemant Soren, the younger son of Shibu Soren, serves as the chief minister of Jharkhand. Sita Soren joined the BJP after Hemant Soren was jailed in a money laundering case earlier this year. Meanwhile, the BJP has offered votes to Sita Soren in the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections.

Congress candidate Irfan Ansari made derogatory remarks against Sita Soren after filing her nomination papers from Jamtara seat on Thursday. A notice has been issued to the Jharkhand government and a report has been requested within three days.
