The Delhi High Court transferred 256 judges from the higher and lower judicial courts in the national capital. The Delhi Judiciary has added 233 judicial officers and the Delhi High Judiciary has added 23 judicial officers. They also include the judge hearing the case against former Bharatiya Janata Party MP and Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
The Delhi High Court on October 25 issued two separate notifications regarding the transfer of judges. In addition to transfers, these appointments also include the transfer of about 70 judicial officers who have completed training to different regions. “The Chief Justice and the judges of this court have been transferred to the Delhi Judiciary with immediate effect,” the notification said.
Jitendra Singh will serve as special judge at Rouse Avenue Court.
The Registrar General of the Delhi High Court also issued a similar notice to the senior judiciary on Friday. According to the list, Additional Sessions Judge Jitendra Singh has been transferred to Rouse Avenue as special judge. The court fell vacant following the retirement of Special Judge Rakesh Syal.
Justice Rakesh Syal used to run a special court to hear cases against MLA. These include cases against former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan. A case involving Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in connection with the Sikh riots is also pending in this court.
Gomti Manocha was transferred to Patiala House Court
Meanwhile, Patiala House Court Special Judge (POCSO) Chhavi Kapoor has been transferred to Rouse Avenue Court as special judge. The Patiala House Court was hearing the cancellation report filed by the Delhi Police in the POCSO case against former BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Additional Sessions Judge Gomti Manocha replaced Special Judge Chhavi Kapoor. A case filed by a female wrestler against the former president of the Wrestling Federation of India is also pending in this court.
