Baba Siddiqui murder: Mastermind promised to provide fake passports to gunman as he prepared to flee the country

Baba Siddiqui Murder Case: The mastermind behind the murder of NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddiqui had promised to provide a fake passport to one of the gunmen to help him escape abroad. Police revealed the news on Thursday. The gunman has been identified as Gurnail Singh, 23, who was given a contract of Rs 50,000 for his role in the murder.

Gunman tortured by fear of punishment
Gurnail Singh, a resident of Khaital in Haryana state, was charged with murder in 2019 and feared being convicted in the case. According to a Mumbai Police official, investigation revealed that the conspirators had offered to arrange a passport for him with forged documents to help him escape from India.

Gunmen Gurnell and Dharamraj arrested after murder
Gunil Singh and another gunman Dharamraj Kashyap were arrested soon after the attack, while their accomplice Shivkumar Gautam is still absconding. Both gunmen were linked to another module involved in the murder and had links to key accomplice Shubham Lonkar and alleged mastermind Mohammad Zeeshan Akhtar.

New striker hired after deal fell through
Initially, a separate team based in Thane, led by Nitin Sapre and Ram Kanojia, was assigned to carry out the murder mission. They conducted reconnaissance at Siddiqui’s house and office for several days, but the agreement was broken when Sapre demanded Rs 50 lakh on charges of murder. The conspirators believed that Rs 50 lakh was a very high amount.

The pistol was purchased from Udaipur
After Nitin Sapre’s gang retreated, the mastermind included Gunil Singh’s team in his murder plan. Previously, Sapre and Kanojia went to Udaipur in July to buy pistols, which were eventually used in crimes. In connection with the murder case, police arrested many other accused including Rupesh Mohol (21), Karan Salvi (19) and Shivam Kohar (20) from Pune.

The mastermind’s connection with North India!
Police have so far arrested 14 people in connection with the high-profile murder. Zeeshan Akhtar, a wanted man who is a resident of Jalandhar, was staying at the house of another accused Amit Hisamsingh Kumar in Haryana in July. He has also been arrested. Amit was an important link between Akhtar and Gunil Singh. Investigators suspect the mastermind of the murder-for-hire case may have ties to North India because the weapons used came from the region.

Let us remind you that NCP leader and former minister Baba Siddiqui was murdered on October 12 outside the office of his son MLA Zeeshan Siddiqui in Bandra area of Mumbai.
