Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal came under attack from social media users after a video of Ola’s electric scooter catching fire went viral on social media.
In this viral video, an Ola e-scooter parked outside a Bengaluru showroom caught fire and emitted smoke.
Congress spokesperson Lavanya Ballal shared the video with the caption: “Another fiery day in the life of an Ola scooter owner.”
The video was shot outside the Ola Electric showroom in BTM Layout, Bengaluru.
Some social media users reacted to the video, saying it was a Diwali gift from the Ola CEO.
“Ola electric scooter is the latest firecracker in the market this Diwali,” a user commented.
One of the users called Aggarwal a scammer and said, “This guy must have bought it to celebrate Diwali. @bhash, this scammer is selling substandard products to gullible customers. He should be booked for cheating ”
“That was Ola’s corporate Diwali party,” commented a user on X.
“No one takes any responsibility. Worst scooter in Indian market,” another added.
customer care issues
Ola, which recently went public, has been in the news recently for several such incidents and poor customer service, though the company claimed to deal with customer complaints promptly.
On October 7, the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) issued a show-cause notice to the company, accusing it of misleading advertising, unfair trade practices and violation of consumer rights. The CCPA gave Ola 15 days to respond.
In response to CCPA complaints, Ola Electric claimed that 99% of customer complaints have been resolved.
“We would like to highlight that out of the 10,644 complaints we received from the CCPA, 99.1 per cent were resolved and as per Ola’s requirements, the customers were fully satisfied,” the company said in a stock filing.
Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra also raised the issue during a heated exchange with Bhavish Aggarwal on X.
Responding to Kamla’s allegations, Bhavesh Agarwal called him a failed comedian and claimed that the company was rapidly expanding its network and would clear the backlog soon.
