Shoojit Sircar shelved Kishore Kumar biopic for this reason

October 25, 2024: Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar recently shared insights about his ambitious Kishore Kumar biopic, which has been shelved. In an interview with Scroll, he revealed that after years of research and development, when he came to know that Anurag Basu was making a similar film on the legendary singer, he decided to stop the project.

“I made a draft, but…” When asked about the current status of Kishore Kumar biopics and his football-themed films, Shujith explained, “I have been working on a script on Kishore Kumar’s life. It took me almost three to It took four years to work on it with my family, but during that time I learned that other scripts, including Anurag Basu’s, were also in development. I had a draft ready, but I didn’t. I thought there was no point in two people doing the same thing, so I put it aside. Once you lose motivation, it becomes a huge challenge to get back to where you were.”

He further mentioned similar issues with another project, a film titled 1911 About Mohun Bagan football team and the British. “The script did not reach a satisfactory level and I lost motivation. But I am currently working on other films.”

Shoojit Sircar’s Bollywood journey Shujit makes his directorial debut with war drama Yahaanstarring Jimmy Shergill and Minisha Lamba.
