The security situation has been heightened due to assembly by-elections in Alwar district of Rajasthan. Accordingly, a huge amount of money was recovered during an inspection at Sheetal Cut located near the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. During the inspection, the tax department team found cash worth Rs 35 lakh in a cardboard box inside the trunk of a car. The team immediately informed the district election officer and the DST (District Special Team) about the matter, following which the amount was seized and an investigation started.

According to sources, a checkpoint has been set up near Sheetal Cut on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway for the Ramgarh by-election on the instructions of the district election officer. In this regard, the tax department is launching a special investigation operation to stop illegal liquor smuggling. District Collector Archana Jaiman and Assistant Collector Digambar Singh Dagur conduct vehicle inspection at Sheetal Chowki.

During this time, bundles of notes were stored in cardboard boxes in car trunks. After counting the currency notes, a total of around Rs 35 lakh was leaked. In this regard, the reporter asked the gardener some questions, but he did not receive an answer to the money-related questions. The money has since been confiscated. A team of District Collector Archana Jaiman and Assistant Superintendent of Police Digambar Singh Dagur were inspecting vehicles at Sheetal Cut.

Rigorous investigative activities under election security

The district government took strict precautions against illegal activities during the election period. In Alwar district bordering Haryana, checkpoints have been specially set up at three places. These checkpoints are monitored 24 hours a day and vehicles are inspected.

District Excise Officer Archana Jaiman said the step was taken due to the possibility of smuggling of illegal liquor and money during the election period. During the inspection operation, Rs 1,09,500 was also recovered from another vehicle. The money has also been confiscated and the management team is investigating the matter further.
