Congress pressure now appears to be at work in the assembly by-elections in Uttar Pradesh. According to sources, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav had a late-night conversation. Following this, it is now believed that the Samajwadi Party can leave the Phulpur seat to the Congress.
The Samajwadi Party has reserved the Ghaziabad and Khel Assembly seats to the Congress and has officially announced the same. However, the Congress does not seem satisfied after gaining two seats. The Congress party demanded that the Phulpur seat should also be given to it. But the SP has fielded candidates from Phulpur. The SP announced that it will once again field Mustafa Siddiqui from Phulpur, who lost the last election by just 2,000 votes.
SP will announce seats this afternoon
The SP will now announce all seats reserved for Congress by this afternoon. The Congress party demanded five seats in the by-elections, but the Sanjewadi Party announced the names of seven candidates. The Congress was unhappy with this decision of the SP.
According to sources, Congress’s UP chiefs Avinash Pandey, Ajay Rai and Aradhana Mishra are also in touch with the Samajwadi Party leaders contacts, but the Socialist Party is not prepared to offer more than two seats.
