Yogi govt’s new guidelines on encounters in UP, shootout scenes must be videotaped

After questions were raised with Uttar Pradesh police about the encounter, the Yogi government issued a new guideline. The DGP has issued guidelines in this regard. Under this provision, if a criminal is killed or injured in a conflict, the scene of the shootout must be videotaped. If the criminal dies during the encounter, a team of two doctors will conduct an autopsy on the body and take video. Not only that, a forensic team will also examine the location where the shootout took place.

The police representative DGP said that the police station in the area where the incident occurred will not be investigated. He will be investigated by police from another police station or crime branch. This will only be investigated by a police officer one level above the officer involved in the incident. These instructions have been issued by the IGP to all district police chiefs.
