The Congress Central Election Committee held a meeting on the Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections and discussed about 62 seats in Maharashtra, while the Congress party has 62 seats in Jharkhand. Candidate lists have been finalized for 18 of the 29 seats. According to sources, party president Mallikarjun Kharge has been mandated to decide on the names of the remaining 11 seats in Jharkhand. The Congress list for Jharkhand is expected to be announced in a day or two.

The race for seats in the Maharashtra Assembly elections is still ongoing between the Congress and its allies Shiv Sena (UBT) and the nationalist Congress Party led by Sharad Pawar. Congress has finalized 96 seats in its screening committee. Only 62 seats were discussed at the Central Election Commission meeting.

Mahavikas Aghadi meet today

After the meeting, Congress president Nana Patole and Maharashtra Congress chief Ramesh Chennithala informed about the important meeting of Maha Vikas Aghadi It will be held in Mumbai at 3 pm on Tuesday. Senior Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat will talk to Sharad Pawar and Uddhav respectively. Through the meeting with Thackeray, we will address the seat allocation aspect problem.

Candidate list

Congress will decide when to announce the list of candidates only after it meets in Mumbai. However, the state Congress leadership also said that the next Central Election Committee meeting will be held on October 25, when all lists will be finalized and disputes within the alliance will be resolved.

Trouble with Vidarbha

Vidarbha’s 62 seats have blocked the seat deal between the Congress and Uddhav Thackeray of Maharashtra’s Mahavikas Aghadi. In the last Lok Sabha elections, the Congress won 5 out of 10 seats while Uddhav Sena won only one seat. Now, Uddhav Thackeray is contesting from 25-30 Vidarbha seats in the Assembly elections and the Congress’s state leadership is not ready.
