The Khiladi Kumar of Bollywood aka Akshay Kumar has gone through many ups and downs in his career but every time the actor has come out strong That bad phase. During this period, the industry lost confidence in Akshay many times. Seeing the box office situation, the shooting of many of his films was stopped midway. Filmmaker Sunil Darshan said Akshay Kumar even cried at one point.
Even today, people love to watch Akshay Kumar’s iconic film Hera Pheri. Its scenes and dialogues went viral on social media. However, according to the film studio, the filming of this film was also stopped midway. In an interview with Friday Talkie, Sunil Darshan narrated how he decided to work with Akshay during that time.
Akshay is labeled a failure
Sunil said – there is a problem. Many of his films were flops at that time and many of his famous films stopped midway. Like Hera Pheri, the film shot 90% and then went off the air. Dhadkan, four scrolls were produced but this too was discontinued. But I feel Akshay has something special. I signed Akshay and said the work would be done only as per my instructions. I told Karishma that there would be two problems. First of all, I can’t give you as much money as you take from other people. The second thing is that Akshay is a hero. He said no problem, your company is our company. His mother Babita also said we would love to work with you.
Akshay Kumar cries
According to Sunil, Akshay’s condition was so bad that no distributor wanted to touch his film. Even though no one in the industry supports him, Sunil has great faith in Akshay. He was even prepared to invest his last penny. At that time, when Akshay failed again, a producer spoke to the actor in a very bad way.
Sunil said – Akshay came to me with tears in his eyes. He told me that he asked another producer why he didn’t put up a banner for his film? So he said, ‘You don’t deserve to have a banner hanging on your film. ‘I was scared to see his nervous expression. I installed the biggest banner in Juhu with only Akshay’s face on it. I knew that this person who was a burden to everyone was going to be an asset to me.
Sunil said Jayanwal performed well in selected centres, and recalled that once at a party, Yash Johar told me that if anyone can beat Lalu Prasad Yada in Bihar Husband, that’s me. “Jaanwar” is the highest-grossing blockbuster in Bihar’s history, running in 25 centers for 100 days.
Shilpa Shetty also starred in the 1999 film Jaanwar alongside Akshay Kumar-Karisma Kapoor. The film earned approximately Rs 124 crore at the box office.
