UDAN program launched in 2016
The UDAN program was launched in October 2016. The goal of the plan is to increase regional air connectivity. It is designed to connect 72 airports, including underserved airports. One of the goals of the program is to make it affordable so that even people from small towns can travel easily. In addition, air services must be provided in places where flight services are less frequent or not available at all. Under the scheme, air tickets for a one-hour journey of about 500 kilometers are priced at Rs 2,500.
