On Sunday evening in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, 11 couples received the 10th mass on behalf of the Marwar Shaikh, Saeed, Mughal, Patan Development Council at a cost of only Rs 1. Sikandar Khan, the regional chairman of the committee, said that 11 couples had received marriages at mass Nikah meetings.
Khan said the organization’s aim is to make important occasions like marriage simple and accessible in society. Couples who attended the meeting received as gifts beds, cupboards, cutlery, an Islamic book, silver anklets and household items.
Sikandar Khan, chairman of the Mass Nikah, said that it has been announced that the Muslim Nikah will be held again in 2025, when 51 couples will get married.
Amjad Khan, a spokesman for the group, said the committee has been organizing campaigns for the past nine years to stop wasteful spending. In the past 9 years, more than 150 couples have been married at a cost of just 1 rupee.
A total of about 50 lakh rupees were spent on purchasing 9 Johnnie cards this time. In this Nikah ceremony, marriages are encouraged to support middle class families throughout Rajasthan and surrounding areas like Jodhpur.
Mohammad Ramzan, a family member who attended the mass wedding, said he never thought a girl would get married in such a grand ceremony. Marriage is difficult due to the crisis of normalizing the family’s financial situation.
