The dates for the assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand have been announced. Since then, all parties have begun brainstorming their respective candidate lists. The Congress Election Commission (CEC) will meet today, October 21, to brainstorm the list of candidates for the assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
Earlier, the CEC meeting in Maharashtra was scheduled to be held on Sunday evening, but due to Karva Chauth, the meeting was postponed and it was decided that the meetings of both states should be held on the same day.
Akhilesh Yadav announces five names
The Congress and Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena are in talks over seat allocation for the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Meanwhile, Congress chief Ramesh Chennithala met former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray and NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Saturday (Sharad Pawar). On the one hand, the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) have not yet achieved seat sharing. Meanwhile, Indian Union ally Akhilesh Yadav, chairman of the Samajwadi Party, is demanding 12 seats and he has announced candidates for five of them.
Brainstorming about seat sharing
Some Congress leaders said that seat-sharing talks between Maha Vikas Aghadi are in the final stages. Regarding the seat-sharing issue, leaders of the three political parties Maha Vikas Aghadi (Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar)) are discussing the seat-sharing issue. Before considering the list of Jharkhand candidates in the CEC, a meeting was held at the AICC headquarters on Sunday regarding the proposed list.
When will the election be held?
Maharashtra will hold elections to 288 seats in a phased manner. The state will go to polls on November 20. Thereafter, the counting of votes will be completed on November 23. On the other hand, elections to 81 seats in Jharkhand will be held in two phases. Voting will be held in Jharkhand from November 13 to 20 and the results will be declared on November 23.
