The actress recently shared behind-the-scenes photos on her Instagram, giving fans their first look at her transformation for the film.

The biopic, directed by David Michod, will chronicle the rise of Christy Martin as one of America’s most famous female boxers in the 1990s. Martin’s career began in 1989, and she went on to become a trailblazer for women in the sport, even appearing on ” sports illustrated— a first for any female boxer.
However, there’s more to Martin’s life than just her victories in the ring. She survived her husband, Jim Martin, who stabbed and shot her multiple times in 2010. Despite the odds, Christie managed to escape and survive, and Jim Martin was convicted of attempted second-degree murder and sentenced to 25 years in prison.
The film’s cast also includes Ben Foster, Merritt Wever, Ethan Embry and Katie O’Brien. While the film is currently untitled, fans of Sweeney are eagerly anticipating her portrayal of a tough boxer who inspires millions with her strength and survival.
