The investigative agency took action today (Thursday) and many accounts were suspended after receiving threats to blow up 19 aircraft in the past 72 hours. The action was taken in light of the growing threat of blowing up the aircraft over the past few days.

Cybersecurity agencies have suspended or blocked six social media accounts that issued bomb threats to aircraft. According to sources, a joint team of cyber security and intelligence agencies analyzed the accounts and later issued an order to suspend them.

Investigating agencies found that these false threats used common lines and words such as bombs, blood will spread everywhere, explosive devices, this is not a joke, you will all die, etc.

Sources said besides registering police FIRs in every case of false bomb information, the agencies have also intensified cyber patrols on social media and dark web to check possible links or trends.

Threats from foreigners

Sources said online surfaces are being scrutinized for information on the main email registrations and geolocations of handles issuing these threats, some of which may be operated from overseas locations. The information is being shared with jurisdictional police departments.

Wednesday’s high-level meeting

A meeting was held on Wednesday to address the matter and discuss further strengthening security at the country’s airports and increasing surveillance of aircraft to ensure the safety of passengers. The meeting emphasized the adoption of special measures to deal with possible threats and ensure that passengers and flight operations are not hindered. Apart from the aviation ministry, security agencies are also involved to ensure the safety of air travel.
