UP: Two persons were arrested for possessing fake currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 100. The accused had sold 1 lakh fake notes for Rs 25,000.

Unnao police uncovered a slew of counterfeit banknotes. Among them, Shoaib of Hardoi and Furqan of Lucknow were arrested. The police also seized bill printing equipment and counterfeit currency notes worth Rs 2 lakh 95,000 800 from it. These people used to sell fake Rs 1 lakh notes to small shopkeepers and rickshaw pullers for Rs 25,000.

Unnao SP Deepak Bhukar told a press conference that the police and SOG team captured a white sweet car traveling from Hardoi to Lucknow from the Auras police station area and fake currency notes and other equipment were found in the car. Interrogation of the two defendants revealed that they supplied counterfeit currency notes in many areas.

Furkan, who had earlier driven a reservation car, started printing fake notes after sitting at home during the coronavirus. Furkan also traveled to Saudi Arabia in 2014 and recently contacted people who produce web series and has produced two or three web series, although they have not yet been broadcast. Police are trying to track down others linked to the gang and its network.

Police recovered fake Rs 500 and Rs 100 notes, EPSON printers, Asus monitors, Samsung CPUs and other equipment from their possession. Police are currently busy searching for other people linked to the gang and its supply chain. SP Deepak Bhukar said besides checking the criminal records of the gang members, we are also probing other members of the gang.
