The central government has ordered that the NSG commandos’ security responsibilities for dignitaries be completely abolished and the security responsibilities of nine dignitaries including UP CM Yogi Adityanath and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh be handed over to the CRPF by next month.
According to sources in the home ministry, the CRPF will now be deployed to protect important persons protected by the NSG. The home ministry recently approved the addition of a new battalion of specially trained personnel to the VIP security wing of the Central Reserve Police Force, who were recently relieved of parliamentary security duties.

Responsibilities will be transferred after one month
Sources said the NSG ‘Black Cat’ commandos providing security to nine dignitaries under the ‘Z Plus’ category will now be handled by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The transfer of responsibilities between the two forces (NSG-CRPF) under the Ministry of Home Affairs is expected to be completed within a month. The CRPF has six battalions responsible for VIP security and has now asked for a seventh battalion to be included in it. The new troops are the same ones tasked with protecting Parliament a few months ago.
Parliament security handed over from CRPF to CISF
A senior official said that security in the Assembly has been handed over from CRPF to CISF following a security lapse last year, PTI reported. Sources said that as part of taking up the new assignment, a team of Andhra Pradesh police came to Delhi recently to change the security cover of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu from NSG to CRPF.
Yogi-Rajnath to benefit from advanced safe contact protocols
According to sources, 2 of the 9 VIPs will also benefit from the advanced secure contact protocol adopted by CRPF. These include Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath. In fact, the places the VIPs will visit are already scouted in advance as part of the safe contact protocol. The CRPF has adopted such an agreement with five of its key figures, including Home Minister Amit Shah, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and three members of the Gandhi family, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Planning started in 2012
It is understood that plans to free the NSG from critical security work began in 2012, when NSG commanders expressed concerns about such incidents that could trigger simultaneous terrorist attacks on many centers in the country , and the commandos will have to be sent separately. According to a PTI report, a committee of the Home Ministry decided to remove the NSG from its dignitary security duties after the SPG was relieved of its duties of Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

While “reorganizing” the national security group, the central government has also decided to deploy commando “commandos” near the Ram temple in Ayodhya and in high-risk areas in the south of the country. NSG will celebrate its 40th anniversary on Wednesday.
