October 16, 2024: Alia Bhatt to release highly anticipated solo album in 2024 JigraIt has always strived to live up to the expectations of fans at the box office. Despite the initial buzz, the film showed no signs of resurgence on weekdays. According to the latest report by Sacnilk.com, the film collected Rs 160 crore on its fifth day of release, taking its total box office collection to Rs 19.85 crore.

After a disappointing debut of Rs 455 crore, the film improved on its second day with a collection of Rs 655 crore, but fell again on the third day with a collection of Rs 5.5 crore. Revenues fell sharply on Monday to just Rs 165 crore. As of the fifth day, the film has yet to cross the Rs 20-crore mark, making it the lowest-grossing Alia Bhatt-starrer film in the past decade.

Jigra is an escape thriller co-produced by Alia Bhatt’s Eternal Sunshine Productions and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The film also stars Vedang Raina and Manoj Pahwa. Alia plays Satya Anand, a young woman determined to rescue her brother Ankur from a foreign prison where he was tortured and sentenced to death. However, the film’s tense storyline didn’t translate into box office success.

Controversy surrounding Jigra

Since its release, Jigra has been mired in various controversies. Actor-filmmaker Divya Khossla Kumar claims that the film’s plot is very similar to her own film Savi and accused Alia of manipulating box office figures. Separately, Manipur actor Bujou Thaangjam accused the film’s casting team of unprofessional conduct, saying he was invited to shoot for the film but never received follow-up messages.

Due to dismal profits and constant controversies, Jigra The road to the box office continues to face challenges.
