“Subscribe to Engineer’s YouTube channel, watch and share content”, a strange order from a power department official.

In Rajasthan, a power department official ordered officials and employees in the 17 districts under his jurisdiction to subscribe to the YouTube channel of an engineer in the department to watch and share his inspirational content. It was said that if this is not done, action will be taken against the officials. However, as public opinion grew, the order was withdrawn.

Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Additional Chief Engineer (Training) SK Nagrani issued the order on October 9. The company said any employee who does not listen to the YouTube channel’s inspirational content will not be allowed to participate in safety discussions organized from time to time and will take disciplinary action against such “careless” employees.

The official ordered junior engineers (security) to create a WhatsApp group for all 17 circles, connect all engineers and share posts in the group every Friday, news agency PTI reported. He also directed that officials and engineers will serve in panels relevant to their subordinates and power consumers. Not only that, but along with this order comes a feedback form with a column for suggestions, inspiration, or learning from the channel’s content.

What is written in the department order?

The order reads: “Junior Engineer (Security) Ajmer Discom will post all inspirational content on his YouTube channel named ‘Jeene Ki Raah Surendra Kumar’. These videos will be posted on all WhatsApp groups every Friday for all members They publish these messages every Friday in WhatsApp groups related to subordinate employees and electricity consumers.

Withdrawal of order: Ajmer Discom MD

When PTI spoke to Ajmer Discom MD KP Verma on the matter, he said the order has been withdrawn and an inquiry has been ordered. However, the relevant official SK Nagrani could not be reached for comment. Executive Engineer Surendra Kumar Maurya, on the other hand, opined why some people are questioning the spread of incentive stings. Justifying the order, he said he would meet with top officials to improve the systems of all power companies in the state.
