Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar
Sources said Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar’s helicopter made an emergency landing. Due to bad weather, the helicopter made an emergency landing at Ram at Musyari in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh city. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Uttarakhand Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande were said to be sitting on the helicopter.
According to sources, the plane had to make an emergency landing due to bad weather. According to preliminary information, the helicopter belongs to the state government. However, the government has not said anything about this.
Disaster management officer Bhupendra Singh Mehar said the state’s chief election commissioner and deputy chief electoral officer will undertake a trek from Dehradun to Milam in Munsiyari on Wednesday. Due to bad weather in Milam, an emergency landing in Lalam was necessary.
No casualties were reported in the emergency landing.
Press conference held in Delhi yesterday
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar held a press conference in Delhi on Tuesday. The elections for Maharashtra and Jharkhand were announced at a press conference by the Election Commission. Rajiv Kumar also announced by-elections for 48 Assembly seats and 2 Lok Sabha seats along with these two states.
The by-election will also be held in Kedarnath in Uttarakhand. The seat fell vacant due to the death of Shaila Rani of the BJP.
Chief Electoral Commissioner to be appointed in 2022
Rajeev Kumar will be appointed as the Chief Election Commissioner of India in 2022. Under Rajiv Kumar, the country provided the facility to vote at home for the first time. Rajiv will retire in February 2025. He is the 25th Chief Election Commissioner of India.
Before joining the Election Commission, Rajiv served as India’s Minister of Finance and Tribal Ministries. Rajeev Kumar received his early education at the prestigious St. Stephen’s College in Delhi.
