Zeenat Aman recalls being blamed for Amitabh Bachchan’s late arrival

October 15, 2024: A few days after superstar Amitabh Bachchan’s birthday, last year’s Instagram post of veteran actress Zeenat Aman went viral. In the post, the actress shared behind-the-scenes memories from her Bollywood days. In a candid post, she recalled an incident involving Amitabh Bachchan, which happened during a shoot where she was wrongly blamed for Big B’s late arrival.

A day after Amitabh Bachchan turned 81, Zeenat Aman shared a throwback picture with the superstar and narrated an unforgettable but… Frustrating incident. The actress revealed that even though Bachchan arrived on the set an hour late, she was wrongly scolded by the director for the delay.

She recalled in the post: “We were working the early shift that day and I hitched a ride with a filmmaker. As usual, I had the script in hand and was rehearsing my lines on the way to the studio. When I arrived, I informed the staff to let me know when Mr. Bachchan would be ready. The scheduled “rolling time” came and went, but there was no sign of him. After an hour, I finally got the news that he had arrived and I rushed straight away. Arrived at the set.”

However, as soon as Zeenat stepped onto the set, the director flew into a rage, wrongly blaming her for the delay. “The director flew into a rage and screamed at me in front of the entire cast and crew. I couldn’t say a word and tears of anger welled up in my eyes. I turned around and rushed back to the dressing room and told my team to clean up luggage.”

Apologize:

After the incident broke out, Amitabh Bachchan and the producers personally apologized to Zeenat Aman. Although the director later apologized, the incident left a lasting impact on the actress. She concluded by stating that she never worked with that particular director again.

Zeenat Aman was a Bollywood icon of the 1970s and 1980s, appearing in numerous blockbusters and cult classics. She was last seen in Ashutosh Gowariker’s film Panipat.
