The atmosphere in the area is extremely tense due to the violence in Balaich, Uttar Pradesh. Hundreds of people took to the streets carrying the body of Ram Gopal Mishra, who was killed in the shooting. They shouted slogans against the police authorities and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and strict action.
The family and villagers kept the body at the Mahsi tehsil headquarters. Heavy troops were deployed at the scene. DMs, SPs and dozens of military officers were busy pacifying the angry people.
In fact, on the evening of October 13, a Durga idol immersion procession was being held in a specific community in Maharajganj town in Maharishi Tehsil Hadi district of Balaich. During this period, violence allegedly broke out in two communities over the DJ playing. At the same time, some people started throwing stones from the rooftops and opened fire on the protesters. A young man named Ram Gopal Mishra was shot dead.
More than 15 people were injured in the incident. The injured were taken to hospital where doctors declared Ram Gopal dead.
